I once asked myself: “what is the difference between modeling and acting?” The answer I came up with is that actors have 24 frames every single second to convey emotion; models just have one. This was our second shoot with Ainee – the first was actually an engagement shoot we did with Ainee and her now husband, Karim.
I remember thinking at the time “these two should be models!” They possessed so much presence and grace on camera that I could hardly believe it. Imagine my pleasant surprise when Ainee hired us for a modeling portfolio and zed card photography session!
As I knew she would be, Ainee was amazing on camera and I kept forgetting that this was her first headshot session. Typically I give big long speeches about “staying in the light”, I point out which light is our main or ‘key’ light, how to pose, where to put your hands, etc. Ainee knew all of this instinctively and had so much natural ability that I have no doubts that we’ll be seeing her go big places in the future!
Plus, I’ve never seen shinier hair in my life….I don’t think I have ever commented on hair before, but her hair looks even nicer than some of the models we’ve shot in the past for hair care and cosmetic companies!
Ainee’s makeup was done by our very own Sarah and she practically GLOWED when she stepped out from the makeup station. There is far less retouching than you think for these shots; between perfect skin and perfect makeup, I joked that she already looked Photoshopped before I took the first headshot.
Headshot photography is one of my favorite genres – the shots are clean, beautiful and it adds another choice to our model casting pool. F-Sequence Studio works with a number clothing designers, jewelers and other companies and from time to time, we’re called upon to cast models for photography projects. Having a list of models we’ve worked with in the past to recommend builds confidence with our clients and gives us an opportunity to repay the kindness that models show when they hire F-Sequence Studio for their modeling portfolios!
